Domaine Duroché has been making lots of waves since Pierre Duroché took over fully the estate from his father Gilles in 2009. And what a Domaine! Blessed with 8.5 hectares of Gevrey-Chambertin's finest plots including four premier crus and four Grand Crus. The style of wine made by Pierre Duroché is one of the purest expressions of Pinot Noir I've witnessed with minimum artifice used. Only 10 to 20% new oak used across the range to champion the terroir transparency. As you can imagine, the magic therefore happens in the vineyard, where very old vines are striving on very complex soils. All destemmed, apart for the tiny Griotte-Chambertin, the concentrated grapes are making profound, lively and vibrant wines that are as intellectual as they are easily pleasing our senses. Pierre is said to be the spiritual son of Eric Rousseau in the village, well, without making any quick assumptions, we can certainly say that the portfolio of appellations and the upmost quality here matches the comparison. - Winery Note
